Raspberry Falls HOA As you are probably aware, the amendment to allow widening to Montressor passed earlier this year. But, as I mentioned before, that is not the end. The next step is to get this funded. NVTA is our best source of funding.
The Rte 15 widening project was selected as a “candidate” for NVTA funding, and is listed as a “top 3 priority” for Loudoun county. The county is asking for $54M for this project. The other two are $89M and $16M. There are many other candidates outside of Loudoun County also vying for funding (Arlington, Fairfax, Alexandria, Prince William, etc)
ACTION REQUIRED!!!  See NVTA Project Page.  That web page has all the details including a link where you can submit your comments on the projects. We did a great job with our initial showings to the Loudoun Board of Supervisors, but now this is beyond their control. NVTA is seeking public input on the various projects. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and we need to squeak very loudly.
Everybody needs to please go fill out a comment and get this thing funded. We should have 100% turn out from this community to get this funded. If you see this message, tell your neighbor. Especially if you know they are not on Facebook. We’ll send this out via email also, but those emails often get buried under the massive amounts of email we all get daily.
Our message should be the same 2 themes as always: 1) Save Lives: In its current state, we have too many head on collisions, and the road isn’t wide enough for emergency vehicles to get through when an accident occurs. 2) Improve our Lives: This traffic is crazy. Increasing capacity is the only solution.
Additionally, on that website you see that on May 10th, less than two weeks away, NVTA will hold a Public Hearing on the candidate projects at 3040 Williams Drive, Suite 200, Fairfax, VA. The hearing starts at 7:00pm. Filling out the comments on their website should be a given. But, if you can find the time to actually make it to their public hearing that would be phenomenal. Wear red as usual if you can. You can sign up for a speaking slot online, by phone or email.
We are getting close here. In June, NVTA will announce which projects they will fund. It’s been a really long journey, and we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But, don’t rest just yet, because it’s still not over. If we take our eye off the ball thinking we have won, that’s when things can fall apart.
Thank You!
