Raspberry Falls HOA
Residents and Homeowners,
HOA Board member and VDOT Liaison John Suttle is leading a *SPECIAL MEETING* for the community at the Raspberry Falls Golf Course clubhouse this Sunday, March 19, from 4-:5:30 pm, to review RT 15 traffic congestion concerns and gather your input on next steps.
Please note- The Loudoun Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 5 pm and has invited a consultant to present the latest RT 15 traffic study to the Board. Following the consultant’s presentation, a stakeholder group will be convened to review different plans.
If you are interested in participating as a Raspberry Falls RT 15 stakeholder, or learning more on this topic, please review the documents posted to the Raspberry Falls HOA website for your reference/review: www.raspberryfalls.org/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=129&qid=8959 [1]
Newly posted documents added include:
* A 9-page newsletter created last month by Leesburg District Supervisor Kirsten Umstattd for her constituents which provides (on page 4):
* “I’d like to give an update on the Route 15 North improvements between Battlefield Parkway and potentially Lucketts or Point of Rocks. I attended a community meeting on January 30th. Citizens said there are three main issues that need to be addressed along this corridor: congestion, safety, and access for nearby residents and businesses who have to use Route 15. Roundabouts were discussed as a potential solution at the intersection of Route 15 business and the Route 15 bypass, Whites Ferry Road, Montresor Road, Spinks Ferry Road, Limestone School Road and Stumptown Road. Citizens suggested rumble strips in the middle of the road to prevent head-on collisions and grasspave, a permeable material, along the shoulders to reduce runoff and allow drivers to evade oncoming traffic. The County’s consultant is planning to present the study to Board of Supervisors on April 4th and then convene a stakeholders group to review different plans.”
* A 27-page memorandum created for the Town of Leesburg by Wells & Associates, dated December 3, 2014, providing an evaluation for a Roundabout on US Route 15 at Whites Ferry Road (Rt 655) and Raspberry Drive (Rt 1170).
* On page 3, you will find the consultant’s conclusion, “Based on the results of this initial roundabout evaluation, FHWA roundabout guidelines, and VDOT’s evaluation, we conclude that a roundabout at US Route 15 (James Monroe Hwy) and Whites Ferry Road – Raspberry Road would not provide the relief desired at the intersection during commuter peak hours.” * On the last page of the pdf, you will find a May 15, 2014 email from VDOT to the Town of Leesburg that concludes, “aside from the right-of-way needs and environmental impacts, a roundabout at this location would likely not be ideal”.
If you have questions/concerns/suggestions regarding this topic or you cannot attend this Sunday’s meeting but are interested in participating in a stakeholder group, please send John an email at john.e.suttle@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
The Raspberry Falls Board of Directors
